Bobbin lace demonstrating
I had the opportunity to do some bobbin lace demonstrating this fall at a nice historic village in Franklin Grove, Illinois. They had a fall festival on September 20. I took my Downton lace project in progress and got to share with a lot of folks that had never seen bobbin lace before. It was a great fall day and I hope I get to go back next year.
The ladies from Chaplin Creek cooked stew all day over the fire. They used vegetables from their heritage gardens. Later in the day the kids were churning butter.
There was a mandolin maker there and most of the kids were playing music during the day.
In the saltbox house there was a large room/parlor that was set up like a sewing room. They had a large quilt frame with a work in progress that quilters have obviously been working on recently. What a fun thing to do!
If you want more information about Chaplin Creek go to http://www.chaplincreek.com and check out their calendar of special events. Maybe I’ll see you there next year!
